Commentary

  • A surplus market dynamics; there is more pork that the market can currently consume.
  • Note market value is calculated as consumed (demanded) quantities multiplied by retail price, supply is what the farmers have ready to sell ,multiplied by wholesale price , the supply metrics are used to estimate the potential value.
  • The dramatic fall in potential value may be explained by the outbreak in ASF earlier this year (2022)
